(1) Americana International. www.americana-international.co.uk
This is held at the Newark Show-ground, Nottinghamshire, on the 5th – 9th July and is run by Bev & Chris Jackson, the biggest Country music organisers in the UK.
The event is the biggest Country & Rock Roll weekend in the Uk, and consists of top international bands, from the USA & Europe playing the very best Country music on the main open-air stages, plus top Rock & Roll bands on another large stage at the other end of the show-ground. Artistes this year include, Confederate Railroad (Band) Ray Campi, Hayden Thompson, and many more.
There is much to see do at this event, including hundreds of classic cars, motor cycles, American trucks, hotrods ect. plus many side stalls.
Line dancing is catered for in the main building, plus top dance instruction during the day.
Go prepared for any weather, as this event is held on a vast open disused airfield and is open to all that God decides to throw down!
(2) North Wales Bluegrass Festival. www.northwalesbluegrass.co.uk/
This cracking event is held in the beautiful town of Conway North Wales. The festival site has wonderful views over Conway bay, which is only two minute walk from the site.
The event is organised by the lovely hosts John Les & Gill Williams, who put together some fantastic bands for lovers of Bluegrass music, these include band
from the USA, Check Republic, and from all over the UK.
Music is performed in a small marquee on site, and also in Conway Town hall.
The bands change over between the two sites, so you can see them all over a
couple days.
Out and about is some magnificent scenery only a short drive from Conway, including National Trust gardens , and the seaside town of Llandudno ten minute drive away.
(3) Allways Music
Country Meets Rock’N’ Roll weekends. www.strollinsteve.co.uk
These are run by friends Carol & Steve Ashdown, Steve being one of the most knowledgeable DJs on the circuit. Steve has a brilliant collection Country, Country Swing, and Rock ‘N’Roll music that I know.
The weekends are held at different resorts throughout the country, including Bournemouth, Torquay, Woolacombe, Hemsby.
Steve always has top Country or Rock ‘N’ Roll bands at his weekends, at the Country weekends the dance floor is open for all types of dancing, everyone gives and takes at these smashing weekends, that Steve & Carol put on. I always find these fantastic weekends offer brilliant music and great fun!.
